Mermaid, Inc. was commissioned to design the logo and website for Abyssinian Baptist Church Federal Credit Union, a distinguished Black federal credit union affiliated with Harlem's historic Abyssinian Baptist Church.
In undertaking this project, our approach was deeply interwoven with the profound love and care Abyssinian FCU holds for its members.
At the heart of our logo design is an intricately intertwined heart motif. This emblem is more than a mere aesthetic choice; it's a potent symbol of the enduring and supportive bond between the credit union and its community. The heart's design is thoughtfully crafted to echo the cross in the Abyssinian Baptist Church’s logo, forging a visual and symbolic connection that reflects the union's roots and values.
For the website, we drew inspiration from the church's stunning stained glass windows. This influence is evident in our choice of the website's brand palette, which not only honors the church's architectural beauty but also infuses the website with a sense of warmth and welcome. These stained glass-inspired elements are seamlessly integrated into the website, creating a visual experience that is both reverent and inviting, much like the church itself.
Through these design elements, we aimed to capture the essence of Abyssinian FCU – a credit union that is not just a financial institution, but a beacon of faith, community, and unwavering support.
